| The 2007 International Bedload Surrogates Monitoring Workshop is also a "web workshop". We will be streaming the meeting over the internet using technology that will allow outside participants to view, hear, and participate in this workshop. Below we provide information on this service. Please contact Jeff Marr for more information on the webstream.

What will I see? Will I be able to interact with the presenter in any way? The best way to see what the Breeze stream will be like is to view this example. You will be able to see a video stream of the presenter, of the presentation, and have audio from the presentation. Following the presentation, you will be able to participate in the group discussion periods by submitting short written questions/comments through the breeze interface. Discussions will be presented and answered on a 1st-come, 1st serve basis, though workshop attendees will be given priority to web attendees. This means that your discussion may be included, but this cannot be ensured due to limited time for discussions. If your discussion contains your full name, institution and email, the authors may refer to your discussion either by directly contacting yourself and/or as part of the post-workshop, USGS publication.
What technology will be used to stream the meeting? Breeze Meeting is a Web conferencing application designed to facilitate real-time communication, collaboration, and teaching and learning over the Web. At the University of Minnesota, access to Breeze is provided by the Office of Information Technology. Faculty and staff members and eligible graduate students can set up and administer Web conferences between small groups of people or webcast events to large audiences.
What technologies do I need to connect to the stream? The systems requirements to participate in the Breeze stream are minimal. A description of the requirements can be found here.
Will I be required to register and is there a fee for this service? Click HERE to register. The webstream will be free. Yes, we will require you complete a short registration so that we can track the numbers of people using the service, their location, usage level, and technical background. Because this is one of the first workshops to broadcast online and for free, the organizers are interested in evaluating the success of this service. Registrants will also be surveyed for post-workshop feedback on the webstream.
Will there be technical support provided should I have trouble connecting? There will be technical support available to help establish and maintain your connection.
When will the stream be up and running? Please see the workshop agenda for our start times each day. We will open up the stream 15 minutes prior to the opening presentation. You may join in any time. The first talk is currently scheduled for 8:30 am (Central Time) on April 11, 2007. |
