Certificate programs are usually offered by accredited academic institutions and consist of a group of related courses intended to give graduates a rounded education in stream restoration or a major component thereof. Besides a certificate of satisfactory completion, graduates often earn CEUs and/or credits toward an advanced academic degree.
University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN: Offered by the National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics, the Stream Restoration Science and Engineering certificate program is a one-year post-baccalaureate program with an emphasis on blending engineering and physical, biological and social sciences in designing, implementing and evaluating stream restoration projects.
Portland State University, Portland, OR: Certificate in River Restoration offered through PSU's Environmental Professional Program. The River Restoration Professional Certificate will be based on completion of five core courses and two elective credits in the areas of biology, restoration design, and construction management with a focus on watershed-scale function and interdisciplinary teamwork.
