StreamLabs Research
Updated July 15, 2008.

Learn more about the research being done at the SAFL StreamLabs: Indoor StreamLab, Outdoor StreamLab, and Virtual StreamLab.

Indoor StreamLab
The StreamLab06 project was a coordinated, collaborative series of mobile bed experiments utilizing SAFL’s Main Channel facility. Experiments were organized under two main themes:

I. Sediment Transport Monitoring Technologies - testing conventional and surrogate technologies for sampling the transport rate of sand and gravel.

II. Ecogeomorphology Research - exploring interactions of gravel transport and storage, surface size sorting, bed armoring and flushing, hyporheic exchange, nutrient uptake, and periphyton growth, and how they vary as a function of bed topography and the presence of fine sediment in the interstices.

Outdoor StreamLab
The Outdoor StreamLab will be hosting five research projects during summer 2008. Read more about these projects here.
