In March, Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central's “The Colbert Report” did a story on the American Museum of Natural History's (AMNH) water exhibition: Water: H20=Life. AMNH and the Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM) co-organized this exhibition with SMM receiving content development support from NCED during the exhibition's creation.

Oregon Public Television produced a show entitled “Oregon Field Guide: Marmot Dam Removed.” Footage in this video is from the NCED Marmot Dam study (summer 2007), which was conducted at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.
The Minnesota Daily newspaper announced the naming of the first environmental engineering chairwoman: NCED Codirector Efi Foufoula-Georgiou.
NCED PIs Gary Parker, Robert Twilley, and David Mohrig presented talks in a 90-minute symposium organized by NCED Director Chris Paola at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual Meeting in Boston. Following the meeting, Parker, Twilley, Mohrig, and Paola participated in a press conference, which resulted in two published articles about their symposium: "New Mississippi delta would limit hurricane damage" (New Scientist Environment) and "A Grand Diversion in Louisiana" (Findings: The Science Magazine News Blog).
An experiment in the Experimental EarthScape (XES) basin appeared on the cover of the Journal of Sedimentary Research (March/April edition).
The 2008 MYRES conference, “Dynamic Interactions of Life and its Landscapes,” is cosponsored by NCED, and the organizing committee includes current and former NCED postdoctoral research associates and graduate students.
NCED Director Chris Paola appeared on WCCO television and radio to discuss the recent flooding along the Mississippi River and how humans have played a role in flood events such as this one.
